Good morning/afternoon all! I'm very chipper today as I got Zapp (not his real name) out of bed before 9 am on a Saturday to go shopping. I know, I was scanning the sky for pigs myself. I got indoor plants and candles and various doo-dads, plus a new book case! New books lately have been stacked on the floor, poor things. I'll be introducing them to their new home tomorrow.
A modest one this week. Bought:
The Maze Runner, James Dashner. (Book Depository) From the passages I've skimmed and reviews I've read, I reckon I'm going to enjoy this one.
How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy, Orson Scott Card. I'll read this after I'm done with Ender's Game.
Mortal Engines, Phillip Reeve.
Riddley Walker, Russell Hoban. This is a classic dystopian/sci-fi recommendation from my boss.
Tonight I'm seeing Moon. Not New Moon. Moon. It's a sci-fi thriller. I'll let you know tomorrow if it's any good!
An image just released from the filming of Tomorrow, When the War Began. Ellie and Homer getting a look at the bridge to Wirrawee.
You always have interesting stuff! I'm really looking forward to the Tommorrow movie.
ReplyDeleteI just read The Maze Runner on holiday (okay, most of it on the plane because I couldn't wait) and I thought it was incredible. Plus, the ending made me so excited about the next book in the series I can hardly stand it. *Seriously*. Hope you enjoy!
You got some great books. I hope you enjoy them. I hope Moon is good =)
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how jealous I am of your shopping fun in Melbourne. Melbourne rocks.
ReplyDeleteI just discovered the book depository and bought a stack of books for Christmas, including the Maze Runner. I hear good things.
That's not how I envisioned Homer and Ellie. I'm a bit nervous about that movie. If it isn't really good I think I might be a little crushed.
Enjoy Moon.
I somehow had NO idea that Orson Scott Card wrote a book about writing. I'm totally going to have to check that out! I've also owned that Mortal Engines book for about 5 years and somehow never gotten around to reading it. It's in a box somewhere in a storage area in the states. Maybe if you like it, I'll have to look in to digging it up.
ReplyDelete:-)
Enjoy the movie and have fun reading the books you got. They do look great.
ReplyDeleteYAY!! Mortal Engines is one of my favorite books. Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you picked up Mortal Engines. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!
ReplyDeleteOooh! The Maze Runner! I really need to get that. Orson Scott Card wrote a book on writing a Sci-Fi/Fantasy book! What? I must read that!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading/movie watching!
I still have 2 read the maze runner! I hear it's really good! Happy reading
ReplyDeleteHappy reading, The Maze Runner is a fantastic addition to the dystopia genre. I loved that book, very intriguing.
ReplyDeleteGreat books you got this week. I can't wait to see the Tomorrow movie either. I hope it's as good as the books. Hope you enjoy reading all your books.
