This week I participated in First Page Saturday on Dear Author. I submitted the first page of my manuscript for the blogging community to critique. *GULP* I knew I'd get some honest feedback here, thanks to the wonderful anonymity of the web! And what some people have said has reflected my own concerns -- so another rewrite is necessary! I also got some heartening encouragement, especially from people who like fantasy.
Is it just me or is the first page/section of a book the damned-near hardest to write??
